Mary Brandon Kearney

Apr 27, 1855 - Jun 26, 1931

Mary Smith Brandon was born on Apr 27, 1855 to parents Gerard Chittocque Brandon and Charlotte Smith Hoggatt and is one of the surviving Brandon children.

An 1860 Census shows her, aged 5, living with her parents and siblings in Natchez, Adams County, Mississippi.

Mary married Edmund Kearney on Sep 4, 1888.

I was able to find Edmund Kearney's will, which reads:

Last Will and Testament of Edmund Kearney
Laredo Texas, June 2nd 1898
In the name of God, amen. I the undersigned Edmund Kearney of Jefferson county Mississippi being of sound and disposing mind do make this my last will and testament I give to our adopted niece Mayken B Pierce the sum of five hundred dollars, the sum to be held in trust by my dear wife Mary B Kearney and the same to be paid to said Mayken B Pierce at such time or times as she may deem it best for the good interest of our adopted niece. The remainder of my estate both real and personal, situated in the State of Texas or elsewhere or any property real personal or mixed which may hereafter accrue to my estate, I give and bequeath to my dearly beloved wife Mary Brandon Kearney whom I hereby appoint sole executrix of this my last will and testament I hereby cancel, annul & set aside any will or wills previously made by me. The 1890 Census shows Mary, aged 45, still living with her extended family in Natchez, Mississippi. There is no mention of Mary's husband or any children.

The 1910 Census shows Mary, widowed and age 55, living with her brother, Charles, and his wife, Nellie (both 45) in Natchez, Mississippi in Adams County.

Mary died on Jun 26, 1931 at the age of 76.
